First Major Deregulation Act (Omnibus I) Rejected

The first major deregulation act

(Omnibus I) was narrowly rejected by the European Parliament on October 22, 2025. As a result, provisions on supply chain due diligence (CSDDD) and the simplification of corporate sustainability reporting (CSRD) have been postponed.

New Vote Scheduled for November

Due to the rejection, it remains unclear whether and to what extent relief measures—such as extended deadlines, less frequent reporting, or higher thresholds—can still be implemented in 2025/26. A vote on a revised parliamentary position is scheduled for November 13, 2025.

The provisional end of Omnibus I means that, for now, companies must continue to report in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and the supply chain directive will remain in its current form.

We will keep you informed as soon as it becomes clear whether the revised legal provisions of Omnibus I can be finalized by the end of 2025.
